General Immortus was seen monitoring the experiment, which suggests that he was involved with the human experiment. Scientists experimented on Terra and Geo-Force, giving them their powers, then attempted to exploit them. However, at the end, Terra finally takes responsibility for her mistakes in " Aftershock Part 2" after Beast Boy calls her out on it, where she stops a catastrophic earthquake triggered by her powers, turning herself into stone in the process.Īccording to her brother Geo-Force, Terra was princess whom, along with him, are members of the house of Markov, and their father was the king of Markovia. She even notes in the opening voiceover for " Aftershock Part 2" that she feels no guilt for betraying or seemingly murdering her former friends, and then gets upset when they return and treat her as a serious supervillain. Indeed, this is the ultimate root of her entire villainous arc she chooses to go to Slade after believing Beast Boy betrayed her (Robin just figured out her secret and didn't know it was supposed to be a secret) and then chooses of her own free will to repay her debt to Slade by infiltrating and betraying the Teen Titans. Terra's paranoia that others will blame her for disasters that aren't her fault, as they have in the past, leads to her refusing to accept responsibility for disasters that actually are her fault. She may learned the skill from Slade.Īs more of her negative traits are revealed, Terra displays symptoms of borderline personality disorder: She has inappropriate and/or extreme emotional reactions (taking the Titans' valid criticism of her powers very harshly), has highly impulsive behaviors (while on the team, Raven has to stop her from taking rash and dangerous actions immediately when presented with a problem), and has unstable relationships (jumping from intense admiration and love to intense hate of a person at the drop of a hat). Terra is also a bit manipulative, as seen in when she pretended to cry so the Titans would let her join them. After her return, Terra seemed to command much, much more control over her incredible earth-controlling and manipulating powers and capabilities. Later, Raven develops a respect for Terra. At first, she gets along well with all the Titans except Raven. He feels he knows the most about her and so is the most understanding towards her. She had tried to put up a front of confidence, but was actually extremely afraid of people finding out how unstable she was until she met Slade whom trained her.Īmong the Titans, she is closest to Beast Boy. Before Terra became a Titan, this lack was very evident and surfaced through her weak control over her powers and emotions. She always had people telling her what to do and how to act.Īs result of the lack of existent control of her powers which usually proves them to be a danger instead of a benefit, Terra is quite insecure. In her childhood, Terra was always a "hard-headed child", confused about who she was and who she was supposed to be. She is voiced by Ashley Johnson, who also voices her own reboot incarnation, Ellie, Tulip, Renet Tilley, Jinmay, Gretchen Grundler, and Gwen Tennyson. She is the false deuteragonist turned secondary antagonist. Until the events in episodes Aftershock Part 1 and Aftershock Part 2, she was confused, and wished to be a heroine and friend of the Teen Titans. In this incarnation, unlike her comic book counterpart whom portrayed as irredeemable psychopath, she was a sympathetic character whom was a former member of the Teen Titans, whose role as a hero or villain is complicated. Terra is a major character of Teen Titans 2003 series, whom are based of the character with the same name in Teen Titans comics. ~ Terra's final words to Beast Boy before she sacrifices herself to save the city from destruction.
